Christian Aid
Banchory East Church works with the other churches in Banchory to support Christian Aid throughout the year. As well as supporting schemes of development in poor countries and campaigns for fairer trading and the cutting of carbon footprints, Christian Aid is presently sending much needed supplies to Haiti. Kandy Project
We have sponsored the Church of Scotland World Mission Project with the Presbyterian Church (Scots Kirk) in Kandy, Sri Lanka since 2005. The East Church has partnered with the Scots Kirk’s Community Based Rehabilitation project operated by the Women’s Development Centre in Kandy. This is an established project helping the disabled and disadvantaged from all ethnic and religious communities as well as other social programmes like building and providing accommodation for families.
Nansato Nursery Project
Banchory East Church supports the fundraising efforts of Paula Scott who has been involved with building and staffing four new nurseries in Southern Malawi. More detail on the website: http://www.nansato.org
Agape
Chris Carter’s stint as a missionary with Agape in Israel has finished. Chris is now working for Agape in the UK. For more information on Agape see the website: www.agape.org.uk
Pais Project
Our former Rookie, Caitlin Marno, is working in Canada as a volunteer for a charity called the Pais Project. Pais is the new testament Greek word for “child servant of the King”. The Pais Project is an inter-denominational Christian youth and schools work organisation, working in schools and churches to assist the evangelisation and discipleship of children and young people. Caitlin is based with a church and livse with a host family. Shehas been trained as an intern in all aspects of youth and schools work and how to be a missionary.
